Impact JBQ Claims 2025 Junior Bible Quiz National Festival Title

The Impact JBQ (Junior Bible Quiz) team from Nixa, Missouri, edged out Keepers of the Command (KC) of Garland, Texas, to win the 2025 JBQ National Festival championship that took place June 12-14 at Calvary Church (AG) in Naperville, Illinois.

Impact JBQ and KC came from the same 15-team preliminary division (F-yellow), with both teams finishing with identical 14-1 records. As the top two teams from each of the five divisions advanced to the Level 1 championship bracket, the pair faced stiff competition, with Impact JBQ coming out on top with an 8-1 record — it’s lone loss to KC — and KC finishing with a 7-2 mark.

JBQ is a program for kids, first through sixth grade, that helps them memorize key facts and Scripture verses from the Bible. Featuring 576 questions of varying difficulty and corresponding points from the Bible Fact-Pak about the Bible, contestants attempt to “buzz in” first to give their answer.

Impact JBQ was coached by Teen Bible Quizzers Alyssa and Meghan Ramsey, ages 17 and 14, respectively, with their JBQ team made up of three quizzers: Brianna Ramsey, Drew Johnson, and Drew Ramsey.

Third place overall at the JBQ National Festival went to Bible Crew from Faith Memorial Church in Sandusky, Ohio; fourth place was claimed by perennial JBQ powerhouse Cedar Park Assembly of God of Bothell, Washington; and the Leaping Lions of Bellevue Neighborhood Church of Bellevue, Washington, took fifth.

“The quizzing has become very even across the country,” states Todd Papendick, the Great Lakes JBQ regional coordinator who assists at the festival. “We had all but two regions represented in the top 10 . . . the difference between the top team and the 40th team is not as big as it used to be — or even the 70th team and the top 10. The teams know God’s Word — it was a great competition.”

With 79 teams and hundreds of quizzers participating in the JBQ National Festival, the top individual quizzers were also recognized. This year’s top five quizzers were: Michelle Essegbey of Whiteland, Indiana (2,885 points); Drew Ramsey, Nixa (2,760 points); Jayden Ramesh, Garland (2,735 points); Levi Mank, Oak Creek, Wisconsin (2,660 points); and Jared Naveen, Burnsville, Minnesota (2,645 points).

A special Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge (BGMC) offering was taken during the concluding ceremonies of the festival. Pastor Barry Jorris, the JBQ National Festival coordinator since 2006, announced that the offering would be used to translate children’s Bibles for kids in Papua, New Guinea. More than $5,000 was raised for the effort.

"David Alexieff, the BGMC director, was also there to teach about BGMC," Jorris adds. "We saw kids getting very excited about the BGMC Trading Cards that teach them about missions."

Jorris concluded the event by announcing that the 2026 JBQ National Festival will be held — for the first time ever — on the East Coast, June 11-13, at Word of Life Assembly of God in Springfield, Virginia.
